On March 21st 2014, Heaven gained a precious new angel and I lost one of the little ones who inspired me to pursue photography professionally — Kai Slockers. Kai was two and a half years old and lost his sudden battle to a rare (and very aggressive) type of brain cancer and his mom is one of my closest friends.
This is one of my favorite pictures of him as it captures his fun little personality so well. I took this during a shoot we did of him and his new baby sister, Maya. While mom was feeding baby sister, dad and Kai started playing. His dad wrapped him up like a little burrito and then held him upside down. Kai squealed with excitement and I was able to capture this beautiful shot of him.
I will love you forever and remember you always, Kai monkey.
